If Linda Ng were standing in front of me right now, I would tell her that my current state of mind is anything but bored. And that I’m an outright sucker for her writing prompts.
On this stormy Saturday evening, as I listen to the rain splatter sideways across my bedroom window — I’m lonely, I miss my kids, and I need a good laugh.
I hope you do too.
Favorite Drink?
My fingers want to type water, but my brain says, stop lying; you know it’s a strong cup of gourmet coffee or an ice cold, bubbly Diet 7UP.
Favorite Color?
My favorite color forever was purple — a deep eggplant-ish shade of purple. If I dig a little deeper (I’m good at that), suffice it to say that my favorite color back then was directly related to the heaps of healing I had to do in the coming years.
Today, I still love the color purple, but my healed heart is drawn more toward shades of blue.
If you won the lottery, what are the top 3 things you would do first?
- buy a house
- pay off my parent’s house (and monthly medical insurance fees)
- buy a house for my ex-husband
Why would I buy my ex-husband a house? So my kids have not one, but three places to call home. (I’m a Plan A, B, and C kind of girl these days.)
Favorite Cuisine?
Oh, gosh, I’m going to have to say Mexican or Italian. *looks up authentic dishes*
Well, crap, now I’m hungry.
Would you give up social media or your cell phone forever?
It depends. Is Medium considered social media? If so, my cell phone… ah, crap. Hang on. I would need a way to communicate with my kids, and with every bone in my body, I hope they never find me on here.
Okay, social media. Final answer.
One thing you’re really good at?
Ugh, I’m trying my best to leave my sexually-charged self out of this one.
A-ha! Taking care of people! I’m really good at anticipating someone’s needs and acts of service. (no pun intended, I swear.)
Cats or Dogs?
I love all animals. But who do I picture curled up on my bed with me, listening to the pouring rain and soft piano music playing on my Spotify playlist?
Cats. Always cats.
Coffee Drinker?
Yes, please! Funny story: I wasn’t a coffee drinker until I was six months pregnant with my daughter at the age of thirty. I couldn’t really stand the stuff before then. (I loved the smell of coffee in the morning, but my existence never depended on it the way it does now.)
What languages can you speak?
Meh, English. I’m kicking myself right now for not learning Spanish earlier in life. My parents speak it fluently, and I’m over here texting my kids “te quiero mucho,” like it’s something to be proud of. (That’s about as far as I’ve gotten with my grand plans of teaching myself Spanish.)
Can you use chopsticks?
I love sushi. And I’m avoiding the question because I’m not comfortable telling you that I can use chopsticks. I get by if I need to but using my hand or a fork is much more efficient.
Does anyone else need a good laugh? Please join in the fun (Linda said so!), and turn that frown upside down!
