But to Social’s horror, those deductions, along with tax credits for teacher deductions and adoptions, were almost eliminated under the House of Representatives’ tax plan. That plan also slashed corporate taxes and eliminated estate taxes. Last Thursday, the Senate unveiled its own proposal, opting to keep the most popular tax deductions while delaying corporate tax cuts until 2019. But that doesn’t mean the Senate version is getting much more traction than the bill put forth by House Speaker Paul Ryan and his merry band of Republican lawmakers. The House tax plan sits at 34 percent positive sentiment on Social, while the Senate’s version ranks at 38 percent positive. While both are getting trashed online, the House’s “slash and burn” approach to deductions doesn’t win any points with Social. –Hugo Guzman
