Returned back to swimming before dawn, after a lengthy hiatus. Thank you Mister Rogers for your continued inspiration even after you’ve passed on from this temporary, fleeting, precious life.
Unlike you Mister Rogers, I do not weigh 143 pounds representing the words “I Love You”… but at this post-menopausal season of my life that would be an excellent goal for me!
(For more context on Mister Roger’s inspiration as a daily swimmer role-model for me click here.)
I originally published this story and then “unlisted” it the next day because of *one of the only two emotions — FEAR.
I feared I had shared too much, too transparent, too vulnerable. I’m learning that as much as I love the therapeutic healing process of writing, not all of it needs to be public.
As a professional counselor, I limit my self-disclosure to a minimum with clients. Equally important in my practice is honoring confidentiality with their own vulnerable truths with the highest fidelity.
But writing here with you is my one my happy places in addition to flow state while swimming, time playing with my grandkids, and nature walks/hikes.
Thank You, the reader, for being part of My Happy Place experiences. Where or what are some of your happy places? If someone were to ask you to close your eyes and go to your happy place, what would that look like?
Today I will add you to my gratitude list. What’s on your gratitude list?
I just deleted several paragraphs from this original story for the reasons previously mentioned. I want to leave the fear behind and focus much more on the other one of the only two emotions* … LOVE.
Practicing my true religion simply stated as “Love God, love people” one day at a time, I will leave you with this request. Please comment any of your answers to any or all of the 3 questions above, because YES, I genuinely care about “listening” to your responses and your story, as much as you care to share here.
Until we meet again, it’s time for coffee and quality time with my loved ones (another happy place of mine;)
Happy Reading and Sweet Dreams in your own HAPPY PLACES!
