In social media or any media for that matter, entrepreneurs often appear confident, winning, and enjoying the rewards of their chosen pursuits. We often see where these people have ended up, but we may not get a sense of how they got there. For Brian Underwood, success has been a long-brewing goal, fueled by his determination, work ethic, and a strong belief in himself and those around him. Before he disrupted the health and wellness space with Prüvit, he experienced the constant ups and downs of running businesses and the humbling misses that can either deflate our sense of accomplishment or empower our learnings for the road ahead. He has taken lessons from the lows to inspire the highs which led to his ultimate breakthrough with Pure Therapeutic Ketones. Today, he most certainly enjoys the lifestyle his business acumen has afforded him, but his personal and professional triumphs can be credited to a strong mission and his perseverance in reaching his goals.
An accomplished basketball player in high school and college, Brian was inspired by a coach who experienced his own success in the direct sales arena while he was a salaried employee at the school. As this mentor lead the team to victory, he was also taking control of his own financial future with a self-driven entrepreneurial venture. This gave him a supplementary income and the extra resources to do more of what he wanted to do in life. Underwood saw firsthand what happens when you put in the work on the court and then do everything you can off the court to create the full, satisfying life you envision for yourself. This would provide the perfect template for future endeavors.
Brian has also credited his father as being a role model for entrepreneurship. He had started his own business and encouraged his son to do the same. This prompted Brian to take initiative as early as high school, trying a variety of projects from running classified ads to selling golf balls he had collected. In college, when he launched a business reselling telecommunications services, he met some of his most influential business mentors. They helped him develop many of the same business skills he finds useful today. He would find that many of the qualities it took to be successful in athletics (: discipline, sacrifice, and competitiveness); were traits that proved instrumental in business as well.
Now that Brian has proven himself as a businessman with the Pruvit brand, his key to sustained success is a true sense of teamwork and collaboration that creates a powerful, positive growth mentality as the culture of the company. They have proven themselves with a strong product and now that he’s leading with focus, passion, and a commitment to empowering everyone on the team to be their best as they strive to improve, he’s confident the brand will continue to thrive and meet the needs of consumers everywhere.
