The new phone, which boasts a Super Retina display and wireless charging, will no doubt prove to be another status symbol. And earlier this year, financial blogs reported that while Apple certainly wasn’t the top mobile OS in America, it’s gaining a greater share at Android’s expense. Now Google has a big plan to hit the Apple where it hurts: Hardware. Google has cut a deal with phone manufacturer HTC, acquiring almost 2,000 employees from its smartphone division. According to the website Android Central, those employees will likely be put to work on Google’s newest Pixel phones, which the company hopes will challenge the latest iPhone models. Social certainly seems optimistic about the deal, giving it 67 percent positive sentiments. –Hugo Guzman
