Don’t screw up.
If you mess up it’s on you.
You’ve got one chance to get this right!
Idle yet, excruciatingly painful threats that screw us all up, especially the male ego!
- We’re not given permission to fail.
- We’re not allowed to be a mess.
- We’re not entitled to have do-overs.
Or so we think! Or do we think?
It’s an interesting melting pot of thoughts that tells us we can’t F*CK Up. Even RuPaul tells contestants right before they lip sync for their lives, “Don’t F*CK IT UP!”
I call foul on that concept. It’s all hogwash. F*cking up is beautiful. It’s where we see our blind spots and discover we are actually human and not some contrived essence of manhood come to life off the pages of a Marvel comic.
For a moment I want you to step into your crap. The times you’ve messed up, failed, allowed your misguided little boy to throw a tantrum, or your grown ass cocky adult ego to get in the way. Go ahead. Dive right into your mess even though it’s uncomfortable like jock two sizes too small. Now, ask yourself these questions…
- Did you survive that mess?
- What lesson was I taught?
- Have I learned not to repeat that same mistake?
- How did that F*CK UP help me in (Fill In The Blank)?
- Without falling flat on my face would I be where I am today?
I know. You hate answering those questions, but they serve you well and you know it. Yet your perfectionist, fights you. It doesn’t want to see you as less than, in any capacity. On the other side of your gray matter, your sub-conscious is saying, “Go ahead on big guy. Embrace the discomfort and forget the perfection bullshit!”
Therein lays the battle between the ultimate pursuit of perfection and the gift of the riding the F*CK UP Express!
Both serve us guys well. If you’re trying to do something bold, out of the ordinary, to live life on your terms, you push the envelope and go for it. Ironically, in your mind, if you are like most guys, you want to do it perfectly. You need the strategic, flawless blueprint to make stuff happen. I hate to say it, but every time we have those thoughts, we’re jerking ourselves off and not in a pleasurable way. Trust me. No orgasm will follow the pursuit of perfection.
The greatest money shot you can have in life is giving yourself permission to screw perfection and just do it, whatever it is, to the best of your imperfect abilities.
Your first pubes weren’t perfect, but they sure made you feel like a man.
That lip of baby fine hair in 8th grade wasn’t much of a moustache to talk about, but you perfectly rocked it, your way.
Your over anxious erection in the back seat as you fumbled to get to 1st, 2nd, 3rd base didn’t make you the perfect lover, but hey, you found your way to sex and even with perfectly premature ejaculation.
The failed attempt to start your own biz may have floundered, but you learned it takes more than saying, “I work for myself,” to be in biz, and now you know what it does take.
Even when he or she said, “I not ready for that,” when you asked them to move in with you wasn’t the perfect fairytale love story ending you hoped, you discovered the truth about your relationship.
Perfection is a ruse, a hustle, a ridiculous standard of measure that rarely can be achieved. So why do we buy into it as THE PATH of success? Because to F*CK UP or NOT TO F*CK UP is the question!
The storm clouds of failure are not permissible.
The detours of to go our own way, even if we screw up, rock the norm.
The appeasement of playing by others rules, adorns us in false security.
Stop the madness. There is no perfection, only close to perfection.
Instead, consider being a true F*CK UP. For the F*CK UPs shall rule their world.
When you rule your world, as Mary Poppins would say, “You are practically perfect in every way!”
Go out there today. F*CK UP and get one step closer to practically perfect.
