The whole point of a shift in thinking is to better yourself, your business, your relationships, and everything else that matters in your life.

“It’s not poor working habits we have, its poor thinking habits that gets us in trouble” ~Hector Ray/Career & Life Changing Champion
It’s easy to fall into routine, but sometimes getting ahead means making some changes.
Change is the result of a shift in thought and can, when employed correctly, be a wonderful thing. The confidence and necessary tools which make a shift in thought possible can be learned and utilized in any situation. Sometimes, making even the most inconsequential changes can have a dramatic impact on how we view the world, and how we behave in it.
Sometimes, getting out of your comfort zone means using fear and doubt to your advantage.

The whole point of a shift in thinking is to better yourself, your business, your relationships, and everything else that matters in your life. Fear and doubt are natural and shifting your thinking away from them can be a challenge, but it’s a valuable goal to work towards. Sometimes, getting out of your comfort zone means using fear and doubt to your advantage. When you are outside of the norm, you force yourself to take on a new perspective and the benefits of that can be staggering. There are opportunities for growth and improvement are all around just waiting for someone to seize the day and really do something great for themselves and those around them.
Something as simple as getting up on the wrong side of the bed can have a profound impact on your whole day. That may sound counter-productive, but maybe the wrong side isn’t wrong, it’s just different. Starting your day on a different path than normal can have a chain reaction on your decision making the rest of the day. Maybe you decide to eat something new for breakfast or take a new route to work. Instead of buying a lunch, you bring your own or eat with someone you don’t know very well. The only way to experience new things is if you open yourself up to the idea.
Far too many think that reaching goals is a matter of letting them come to you, when really you need to actively pursue them. You have the opportunity to experience something new every day, but it’s not going to fall into your lap. Have confidence to shift from the norm and think about your choices in a constructive way and great things will come.
These examples are minor decisions, but the shift in thinking which set them in motion applies to much larger ones as well. It’s not so much about the choices themselves, rather it’s the attitude you have while making them. The desire to make a positive impact on your life is what drives your choice of morning breakfast cereal or something as significant as where you’re investing your money.
You can start small and see how a shift in thinking affects your life.

The overall goal is to better yourself and when you shift your thinking, you expand your ability to progress. Following the same old patterns and progressions will only keep you spinning in a circle. Whether it’s something with school, family or professional, the techniques necessary for conquering each are out there waiting for you to use them. You can start small and see how a shift in thinking affects your life, then apply the same will for improvement to your overall goals so they shift from dream to reality.
It can be hard to think differently, especially for someone in a professional field where there are established ways to getting things done. Shifting your thinking involves understanding what you want and what those around you want. How are you making an impact on someone else and how could that impact be improved? It’s often a subtle shift which turns something good into something great, so never settle for good enough. You are in a position to make changes in your life, you simply need to shift your thought process by taking a look around.
Opportunity, potential and knowledge are all around when you choose to look for them. When we fall into the same routine and patterns, it can be far too easy to overlook these opportunities even when they are right under our nose. You want to be able to see the little things along with the big picture and how each choice we make has implications in both realms. A desire to get better drives all of us, but it’s the ability to escape predictability and standard operating procedure which allows some to get better a whole lot faster.
At the end of the day it’s poor working habits we have, its poor thinking habits. Your thoughts are the shadows of your desires. Here are some simple steps to improve the way we think:
Step 1: Write down the goal you have with purpose
Step 2: Ask yourself how many things have to be true for that goal to be realized, think about it from the end result, try not have more than 5 – 10 truths
Step 3: For each of those truths, ask yourself, what are the challenges or barriers that are not allowing those truths to be realized, i.e. financial, relational, educational etc…
Step 4: For each of those challenges, ask yourself what can I do about them:
- Today
- This week
- This month
- This quarter
- First half of the year, second half of the year
This is an incredible approach to shift the way we think, I have been using this for years and it has done wonders. Just say to yourself, “I get it”, “I know I can do it”, and “I am willing to try it”

Great article, truly enjoyed reading it. Using fear and doubt in our advantage instead of letting it stop us is highly beneficial. All we need sometimes is a shift in our perception and to recognise where our comfort zone starts so we can consciously push through it and start living from this new place where true growth happens.
