This is the last of the Autumnal moons and as it is lost against the rising sun it heralds the imminent onset of winter.
The great stormwracks welcome this moment as they loom over the high Sierra, driven on by the fierce Levante winds.
It seems the season turns on this lunar descending moment and the ecology huddles closer in anticipation of the coming cold.
