Men tend to think of surrender as woo-woo and feminine. But today’s Man Alive guest gives grounded and clear reasons why surrender is the key to next level success and fulfillment, even for men. Kute Blackson, a best-selling author and transformational speaker, takes surrender to a whole new level, showing you how the greats — MLK, Jesus, Gandhi, etc. — are powerful examples of what’s possible when you surrender.

Surrender isn’t usually something men tell me they desire. It’s almost as much of a cringe word as vulnerability ;).
But surrender is actually NOT what you think!
Because surrender is often misunderstood as a woo-woo, new-agey, feminine experience, I wanted today’s Man Alive Podcast guest to focus on why surrender is powerful for men.
Kute Blackson is the author of best-selling book: You Are the One, and he has a new book called The Magic of Surrender, which has been endorsed by Jack Canfield, John Gray and many other NY Times best-selling authors. A beloved inspirational speaker and transformational teacher, Kute has a fresh, bold take on spiritual awareness that may blow your mind.
Kute’s multicultural upbringing as the child of a Japanese mother and a Ghanaian father has spanned four different continents. His unique lineage is a foundation for his approach to accessing people’s greatness, through the powerful process of surrender. I grilled him a bit, to make sure he could justify his case, that surrender is a grounded and powerful choice, rather than wishy-washy and irresponsible. We discussed…
- Why surrender is NOT weak and will NOT make you a victim or a doormat
- Discipline and responsibility as forms of surrender
- How to let go of force and the attempt to manipulate life
- The great ones’ — MLK, Jesus, Gandhi etc — surrender to a calling bigger than themselves
- Why surrender is the most powerful thing you can do and the key to your next level of success
When you’re done with this one, I’d love to know a bit about how I can better support you in your love and sex life. Would you take a couple minutes to answer a few questions? As a thank you I’d love to give you an e-copy of my new book: Honest Sex: A Passionate Path to Deepen Connection and Keep Relationships Alive. Answer the questions to get your book here.
Here’s to you having more of the connection, affection and sex you want! Surrender may even be part of your path to get there.

A beloved inspirational speaker and transformational teacher, Kute Blackson offers a fresh, bold look at spiritual awareness for a whole new generation. Born in Ghana, West Africa, Kute’s multicultural upbringing as the child of a Japanese mother and a Ghanaian father has spanned four different continents. His unique lineage lay the foundation for his approach to breaking down barriers and unlocking an individual’s true gifts and greatness.
Kute was raised all over the world. When he arrived in Los Angeles, all he had to his name were two suitcases and the dream of seeking out the spiritual and self-help icons who had inspired him when he was a boy. Kute quickly learned that the “outside-in” approach favored by so many in the personal development space had to become an inside-out approach. He created his own method—a process that liberates the individual and the true self at the core and then allows those gifts to be given. It is a process of breaking free—so each individual can live, give, and share the truest expression of their self. This is what Kute calls “Liberated Living.”
Check out Honest Sex, a new book author Shana James.
Some say we are outgrowing marriage as a culture. However, the problem that author Shana James regularly sees as a relationship coach—and through her own divorce—is that many of us have not matured enough to create the emotionally-connected, sexually-satisfying relationships we long for.
Honest Sex teaches us what kind of honesty is effective for creating closeness, what sex actually is (rather than what we’ve been taught), and how to communicate desires and upsets to create more intimacy. By examining new ways to sustain connection with a partner, author Shana James illuminates a framework for relationships to start strong and get more intimate and exciting over time.
James is the creator and host of the Man Alive podcast and has a TEDx Talk, “What 1,000 Men’s Tears Reveal About the Crisis Between Men and Women.” As a relationship coach for 20 years, she humbly discovered the causes of disconnection and distrust in relationships, as well as how to build trust and keep passion alive. Her first book, Power and Pleasure: A Man’s Guide to Becoming a Confident and Satisfied Lover and Leader, supports men to be fulfilled in love and work. In this book, written for all genders, she uses her Master’s in psychology, DISC, and Positive Intelligence certifications to guide readers to create more honest and passionate romantic relationships.
