(How to read this letter: in the abstract. When I say “me” or “I,” picture your children, your mother, your wife, your lover, the feminine divine, or even yourself.)
Thank you for holding me close, for letting me experience what steadfastness feels like. I come to you to be reminded that life is in fact safe. Thank you for your steady heart and embrace.
Thank you for your drive to provide, to continually go out to do what needs to be done, to return again and again, to get dirty, to come home again.
Thank you for letting me feel your heart, deep red and ablaze, impassioned with what you stand for. When I feel your heart, I know I can trust you. When I see your heart, I know you are fully present.
Thank you for your integrity. Your decisiveness. Your choice. When you are present and embodied, acting from the wisdom deeply inherent, I will follow your lead.
I know that the same worn hands, they can kill or they can caress and you will know when and how to use them, and in knowing that, I feel attraction. I never fear you, for you would never use your hands inappropriately on me.
You know that within you is the rushing strength and power to destroy life and so you go with it out of the house, you go to the woods. You go with your men. You do not escape the darkness of you, and because you face yourself, I do not fear even your darkest truth.
You are not afraid to show your love, your devotion to what is sacred. You are not afraid to stand in what you know and you are not afraid to be open to wisdom you don’t yet possess. Including my own. Thank you for seeking council with the divine feminine.
Thank you for knowing how to listen. For knowing when to trust me to lead differently, for knowing how to vulnerably lay your head in my lap when you need respite.
You exalt the feminine as your compliment, knowing that without one another you are both nothing, knowing that without your Queen you are not your King. You take a machete to anything on her path by day, and are not afraid to lose yourself in her mystery by night. Thank you for helping to restructure the honorable understanding of energetic compliments.
Thank you for living your passions.
You bend but you don’t break. No one questions your honor. Your love and your power could move both earth and water and you will only allow just foundations to remain standing, or to ever be erected in the first place. You are trusted because you have shown us you are worthy of that trust.
Thank you for showing your children through every action what devotion looks like.
Thank you for standing as yourself as definitions of masculinity and fatherhood and patriarchy are shifting and thank you for reigning, sacred masculine. Thank you for resurfacing, thank you for calling, thank you for rebuilding and reconciling within us all. You are beautiful. You are required.
It is an honor to see you. May I remember to honor you.
