Les Wright

Les K. Wright is an author, gay activist, bear historian, photographer, and literary scholar. He is a founding member of the GLBT Historical Society San Francisco, founder of the Bear History Project, founder of the BHP Reboot working group, and co-author and editor of The Bear Book and The Bear Book II, and author of Resilience: A Polemical Memoir of AIDS, Bears, and F•cking. His writing has appeared in the Gay and Lesbian Review, Drummer, RFD, Bay Area Reporter, Culture Vulture, White Crane Review, Frontiers, and A Bear’s Life. Amy B. Raff has described him as “an important gay writer [on a par with] Armistead Maupin, Edmund White, Michael Cunningham, and John Waters.” He is currently working on an anthology Children of Lazarus: Voices of the “Forgotten Generation” of Long-Term AIDS Survivors.
