We follow experts to stay current with the trends. We appreciate their foresight and specialized knowledge on the topic.
Entrepreneurs are no different. They are looking to search engine optimization experts to help maximize their online presence. You want to hear from the best. Not many people will disagree with that preference.
Recently, I had the opportunity to interview John Stover. He is the chief executive officer of Best SEO Firm, who has been featured in Inc. Magazine, SEJ, and other well-known publications. Their company’s name is clear cut.
So, I took some time to ask a few questions to provide some insight in helping people understand search engine optimization better.
Kallen: Hi John. Thank you for joining us.
John: Thanks, Kallen. I appreciate the opportunity.
Kallen: Let’s start with SEO authority. I have heard that a Wikipedia page can increase SEO authority. How essential is it in the overall effort to maximize one’s presence?
John: Wikipedia is the largest and most referenced research tool on Google today. It gets more traffic than Twitter and LinkedIn. A Wikipedia page can really increase brand recognition and authority. The overall benefits are tremendous.
A Wikipedia Page is also the golden ticket when it comes to getting a knowledge graph for yourself or business. Google inherently “trusts” Wikipedia and consistently uses Wikipedia to power their knowledge graphs.
Kallen: Wow! You have definitely got me thinking more about having my own Wikipedia page. I am listed on a Wikipedia page through my publication’s affiliation. Although, it will probably be a good idea to have one dedicated to myself.
Let’s talk traffic! If many people could better track their referral traffic, I am sure that they would be more efficient. So, how does one do that? After all, Google Analytics is not free for everybody.
John: You are absolutely right. Google Analytics remains to be a free popular tool because many people still fall under the 10 million page view threshold. Although, once your site has passed that mark, it could cost you about $150,000 a year.
Google Analytics is not perfect. Some people have stated that the interface has presented navigational challenges. An alternative is Clicky. It is easy to navigate and easy to use from your mobile device. Some of their features include customizable tracking, real-time analytics, and individualized visitor logs.
Kallen: My last question is about Facebook Ads. It appears to be working for a lot of people. Do you suggest that people incorporate it into their strategy?
John: I do. In fact, I will give you three reasons to use Facebook Ads.
First, it gives you an edge over your competitors. Many people are using Facebook, but they are not advertised on it. So, why not be among the few in your industry to solicit users from the largest social media platform?
Second, it is cost effective. You do not need a large budget to advertise on Facebook. You can allocate a dollar on a daily basis and reach thousands of people in your target audience.
Finally, it is an easy way to engage people with your brand. Social media platforms are ideal environments to reach people, who are at ease and more willing to personally engage with your brand. They have the option to like, share, or comment on your social posts, which helps you gauge the overall engagement of your audience.
Kallen: Wow. This was great. I definitely learned some things and our readers probably did as well. John, thank you for talking with us.
John: Kallen, thank you.
Thanks for the sharing Kallen, but Wikipedia are all nofollow links right?
What do you think about the links in the youtube description box? Will it boost SEO rank?
Great insight about Wikipedia and Facebook Ads! I never thought about using ads on FB, but I’ll definitely be using them on future campaigns. Awesome insights! Thanks for sharing, John!
Good stuff here Kallen! I’m a big fan of Clicky. Try to stay away from most Google products anymore. Way too much control. I’m also working on a Wikipedia page. Hard to get the references and get approved, but we are half way there.
