Laid down in warm shallow waters they have been changed beyond reason by immense pressures and heat.
Latterly, twisted and raised by the moving continents, they formed the great montane redoubt of Betis.
Adamantine in form, they reside in slow grace, outlasting all else in the ecology.
Yet they are not proud and aloof in this strength and resistance.
Rather they welcome all into the crooks and crannies of this living rock, providing home and refuge for their fellow mountain dwellers.
There is a bond and camaraderie in these high eyries, one born of fortitude in the face of storm and rock cracking heat.
For us too they have ever been a destination of peace and inspiration as we sit for a while with eagles and the spirits of the sky.
