100 Words on Love, by David Karpel
–
When our children do something to make us proud, we speak to each other a thousand whispered words of love with a glance.
Fitting my lips in the valley between your first and second knuckles, you say, “I’ve never had the opportunity to be so jealous of my own hand.”
If I had a lifetime to spare, I’d spend it nestled in the hollow of your neck, breathing, holding us.
When we put our foreheads together seeking deep into each others’ eyes, our hands up to enclose our faces together, the world silences, stops, ceases its viscous pull.
