I’ve been a fangirl of Lisa Johnson aka the @TechChef4u for years, this an infographic from her latest book: Cultivating Communication in the Classroom: Future-Ready Skills for Secondary Students and it’s AWESOME so and I just have to share it with you!
As a middle school teacher and a future ready librarian, I want to make sure our kiddos have what they need going on to High School. These are some the communication skills they need before college and career, so wouldn’t it be major if we could get a head start on it? Check it out!
Ok, to be honest, books about technology can sometimes be outdated before they’re even printed – but this book is about the IDEAS and SKILLS that our kiddos need to be future ready and have the communication skills that will make them effective learners and successful humans. AND if that’s not impressive enough it’s got a forward from tech legend & guru @GuyKawasaki!
This book is also recommended by one of my most favorite of people: this guy, my buddy from the Google Teacher Academy, Seattle 2010 and one of the best huggers ever – Kyle Pace!
This book is the most practical guide I have seen to truly help secondary students be “future ready.” The advice and tips that Lisa Johnson shares should become a standard digital literacy read for all middle school and high school students. —Kyle Pace, Instructional Technology Coach Grain Valley School District Kansas City, MO
Cultivating Communication in the Classroom: Future-Ready Skills for Secondary Students
from the Amazon book description:
“Students are expected to be innovators, creative thinkers, and problem solvers. But what if they can′t communicate their ideas persuasively? Knowing how to share ideas is as crucial as the ideas themselves. Unfortunately, many students don’t get explicit opportunities to hone this skill.
Cultivating Communication in the Classroom will help educators design authentic learning experiences that allow students to practice their skills. Readers will find:
- Real world insights into how students will be expected to communicate in their future careers and education
- Strategies for teaching communication skills throughout the curriculum
- Communication Catchers for igniting ideas”
