So, how did you meet?
One of my favorite things to ask people when I’m getting to know them (if they’re in a serious relationship) is, “How did you two meet?”
There’s something beautiful about hearing how people connect, watching how their eyes light as they recall the first time they saw their partner, or the moment they realized that they had to get to know that person better.
Here’s mine:
I met my husband the first weekend that I was working in a new store in a new town. He walked through the door and we instantly connected, as friends. When my co-worker pointed out that he was “vibing me”, I almost didn’t believe her. He was so good, so kind, so earnest… up until that point I felt like I’d only attracted bad boys and guys looking for trouble.
He visited our store every weekend for more than a month, until finally he gave me his number. He told me that he didn’t want to pressure me to give him mine, as he knew that working in a men’s store probably meant a lot of guys asking for the saleswomen’s numbers.
When he said that, I knew I had to call him. I tried to play it cool and not call right away – but I gave in and called the next day. The fact that he’d be so considerate as to think about the pressure we were under all day long made this nice guy just too good to pass up!
Your story doesn’t need to be long – 400 to 1000 words or so. Longer by approval.
I’d love to have this be primarily by the guys here – just to keep it on brand – but ladies, if you feel like your story has something to do with modern masculinity (i.e. the pressures of asking a woman out, negotiating who will pay the check, role-reversal scenarios, etc), I’d love to have those, too!

I simply met her in network. I registered on Maria club in order to have fun, nothing for serious. But then she wrote me and I admired beauty of her face and soul. She became the best virtual friend for me and I wanted to see her in reality. I visited her and that week made me addicted to her. I was afraid to tell her about my feelings because I didn’t want to lose her forever. But then I decided to get or to lose everything. I was excited when she told me that she thought the same but… Read more »
