90% of what we call luck is within your control. You can create your own fortune on purpose. It’s entirely up to you.
“I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it,” Thomas Jefferson once said.
You can change your life in a series of consistent actions.
Many people hope and wait for luck to change their fortunes.
Hope is not a plan.
They say, “Good luck is the twin brother of hard work.”
Instead of wishing for an external force to put your life on the right trajectory, seize every day and connect better dots to design a better life.
You can plant the seed of luck in your life on purpose by investing in deliberate actions that will get you closer to your ultimate goal in life.
I didn’t study to become a writer.
I have never taken a single class on writing well.
I don’t even know the rules of writing, but I write anyway. I choose to improve my chances of getting lucky by sharing in public every day.
The results or outcome may not be in my control, but the practice is entirely up to me. I can influence my success by doing the necessary work.
The outcome has been life-changing, though: I have upgraded my mindset, improved my mental tools, connected with smart people, learned from people more intelligent than me, and made six figures in the process.
I am consciously designing my own luck by choosing to write.
Here’s the simple lesson: you will not build the life you want without a fair amount of consistent work.
What are you doing to create your own luck?
“Go and wake up your luck.” — Persian Saying
Every post, tweet, essay, product, course, newsletter, book, or piece of art you create improves your chances of getting lucky.
You can’t hit a homerun if you are not ready to swing.
“Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity,” Seneca once said.
Luck is all in the preparation.
First, you can create an environment where good luck will come to you. Second, you need to expect that your life will become better. Third, take the right action consistently. Invest in your luck.
Luck is an attitude, a state of mind, and a way of living life.
The first step in creating your own luck is to define what it means to you.
What does it mean to be lucky?
What are some things that would make you feel lucky? And how will you know when your luck has changed?
Prepare yourself for opportunities by:
- Define what being lucky means to you;
- Recognize when your luck changes and take advantage of it; and
- Prepare for opportunities by actively looking for them.
You can create your own luck through the way you see and think about the world around you.
To create your own luck, you must take action.
A lot of successful people say luck has nothing to do with it. They were just in the right place at the right time. But there are certain things we can do that might give us a little more advantage than others.
Like investing in good habits, routines, and behaviors that will improve our chances of success.
Luck is mostly a consistent behaviour. Put yourself out there more often, and you will likely attract the right people and connections.
Whatever you want as a creator, invest more in the active process.
Find your niche and dig deeper.
Your next post, newsletter issue, YouTube video, podcast episode, illustration, product, book, or app will increase your chances of changing your fortunes on purpose. Do more great work every day.
