Domestic Violence is defined as acts of violence or abuse against a person living in one’s household, especially members of one’s immediate family.
March is Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on and highlight the professional and personal accomplishments of women. The entire world will be better served to address the injustices that befall these beautiful, magnificent, scholars of the universe who endure the humiliation and degradation of domestic violence.
It is imperative to address these elephants looming in millions of rooms nationwide. They take refuge in the closets of our domiciles, those elephants standing on the lawns, those elephants wearing the badges of protection, those elephants standing on our Sunday morning pulpits while speaking of the wrath of God, and those elephants some women coddle and blame themselves for the elephant’s presence.
James Brown said it best, “this is a man’s world, but it would be nothing without a woman or a girl.”
This world is blessed to behold the personage of women; their beauty, their captivating smiles, their nature, their passion, their giving spirits, their compassion, their ability to love unconditionally, and their innate sixth sense to soothe the world of its hurt and of its hatred.
To commit violent acts against women in anyway is unacceptable. How on earth does any man disrespect himself so much to allow himself to bruise, batter, maim, and yes, even take the life of a person he has professed to protect and to love as his significant other?
Can’t you hear the melodious sound emanating from her vocal cords as she calls your name in that endearing fashion only she commands? No one else can imitate that special tone, for it has a rhythm of its own.
You may be in a crowded room with multiple voices clearly audible, however, you can distinguish her sound above all the rest. How do you destroy such a treasure? How do you inflict emotional and physical pain to the possessor of the golden voice that massages your ego?!
Where does it all begin, the distant sound in the night that moves men to destroy such beauty?
The beauty of a woman is that she is beautiful sitting silently in the garden of life, just as impressive, she has the capacity to morph into a flower pot of hatred and rage that can wheal a shovel in the garden of evil to protect both herself and those she loves.
To look at a woman is to see a creation, to caress an idea, to realize a dream, and to appreciate the beauty of the earth.
She shines in a man’s heart like the noonday sun, no diamond can match the sparkle in her eyes, no silk can match the softness of her touch, no water can quench a thirsty heart like having the love of a woman.
Men, brethren, compadre’s, fellows. We are charged with the safety, welfare, and security of women. Embrace them, protect them, love them, and most of all appreciate them.
I salute’ the women of the world; three hundred sixty-five days a year, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Men, with every fiber of your being you know the truth, please adhere to it as we salute and appreciate women and as we celebrate Women’s History Month.
Do not waste your time looking in the mirror, because:
THE MIFFOR REFLECTS AN IMAGE, BUT THE SOUL HOLDS THE TRUTH!
