Overview
The editors didn’t know what to expect and were both surprised and elated at the positivity of the submissions and the similarities.
Relationships
Although different in presentation, from the sci-fi perspective to the realistic, all focused on relationships. If the submissions are taken to represent a large segment of society, they, without explicitly saying, say we have lost our joy. We are enslaved in routines that rob us of time to experience life and each other, in technology that keeps our attention away from the wonder around us, in the bondage jobs that leave no framework for creativity, meditation, and thought, and in a photo-barcode world that dehumanizes us by taking away our true identity.
Environment
Our writers see a different world. A world where green spaces abound, community is celebrated, zero footprints rule transportation and consumption, our living spaces decluttered, and our time spent in a clear and clean environment with real and present human interaction.
Equality
They see a world that is free from hoarding goods, money, and emotions. Where people give of their passions and get what they need to sustain them. Where we believe “no human gets left behind,” and make sure that all receive a living wage, social services, healthcare, food, and shelter. Where people take pride in their work and have the respect of those whose lives they touch.
We ignore these truths to our own peril. Our earth’s surface will no longer support us. Tenuous relationships will break and loneliness will claim more lives than ever. Survivors will be few and forced into darkness.
Positivity
And, knowing all this, our writers, our prophets, see a positive future of goodness, sharing, kindness, acceptance, and celebration of our humanness, cultures, and creativity.
AWARDS
To show appreciation, the editors have chosen to split the award $50.00 and a GMP Platinum Membership goes to:
- John Tuttle, The Merry Metropolis: Urbane Urbanity, “Humane humans and polite politics create urbane urbanity. And the sciences have never been better or brighter.”
- Bob Kanegis, All True Living is Encounter, “My dream city is one of ultimate connectivity and conviviality. People connected to each other, to the environment, to history, to the future.”
- Heath Henwood, City of the New Century, “To wander through my city is to experience life and self-expression. Fear and crime is negligible. Kindness abounds. By embracing everyone’s true self without judgment, people thrive, share, and grow into the amazing humans they were meant to be — with respect and dignity. The arts and parks are the central pulse.”
- Phyllis Rawley, The Birthday Party, “They rebuilt a colony of artists underneath Gaia’s surface.”
- Rod Keays, New City Absent of Money, Coercion, and Power, “Imagine a world where each of us gives the very best of our lives to others, fills important social needs as builders and as selfless global citizens.
