I know that I can argue with a lot of people on Facebook, and we all have people in real life we don’t connect with easily. I just wanted to say that no matter what, no matter how much we argue, I’m glad you’re in the world.
129 people, on average, will commit suicide today in the US. And it’s impossible to tell what will be the thing that makes that final decision for them. Was it an unkind word, a hopeless argument, a disagreement that hit them particularly hard, or none of the above.
The last thing I would ever want to be for anyone is that one final unkind word. Our disagreements are one thing, powerful as they seem. But no matter what we disagree on, we have these same enemies: hopelessness, despair, the feeling we aren’t wanted or needed.
If we ever have to stop an argument to go after the real bad guy together, well, that’s ok.
The Monster is the real bad guy and no one needs to deal with him alone.
