we texted every day for months and then he just stopped
We texted every single day for four months.
Good morning texts. Random memes. “Thinking about you” at weird hours. The kind of texting that makes you start planning a future with someone even though you’ve never put a label on anything.
And then one day, he just stopped.
No fight. No explanation. Just… nothing.
the worst part is there’s no story to tell
When people ask what happened, I don’t even have an answer.
“We didn’t really break up, because we weren’t really together.” That’s the whole explanation. And it sounds insane out loud, but it’s true.
There’s no closure story. No “he cheated” or “we grew apart” or “he moved away.” Just a guy who used to text me good morning and then one Tuesday, he didn’t. And he never did again.
I kept checking my phone for weeks
I’m not proud of this, but I checked his last seen for like three weeks straight.
I reread our old texts trying to find the moment it went wrong. Was it something I said? Did I text too much? Did I seem too invested?
I drove myself insane trying to solve a mystery that probably has a boring answer. He probably just lost interest. That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
But my brain refused to accept something that simple.
situationships don’t come with a rulebook
Nobody prepares you for grieving something that was never officially anything.
You can’t tell people “I’m heartbroken” because they’ll say “but you weren’t even dating.” And technically they’re right. But I still lost something. I lost the future I was quietly building in my head every time he texted “good morning beautiful.”
I lost four months of feeling chosen by someone who apparently never really chose me at all.
I think I’m still a little embarrassed
Honestly, the hardest part isn’t even missing him. It’s feeling stupid for caring this much about someone who clearly didn’t care back.
I gave him access to my whole day, every day, for months. And he just walked away without even bothering to say goodbye.
I don’t know if that’s cruelty or cowardice. Maybe both.
I’m trying to let it be what it was
I don’t have a neat ending for this. I’m not over it yet, not completely.
But I’m learning that some people just disappear, and you don’t always get to know why.
And maybe that has to be enough.
if someone ghosted you after months of “almost something” — I get it. the grief is real even without a title.
