Naoto Matsumura, the only human in town, cares for animals that have been left behind in Fukushima.
___
Fukushima, Japan was declared a nuclear radiation exclusion zone after the 2011 disaster. Over 16,000 people were forced to evacuate, leaving their animals behind. 55-year-old Naoto Matsumura returned to care for his own animals, and realized countless more needed his help. He has lived by himself in the 12.5 mile exclusion zone for 5 years. The guardian of Fukushima’s animals may be the only human in town, but his work is far from unappreciated.
That’s one good man.
