The other day on Facebook a line of text caught my eye: A few thoughts that come to me, the older I get.
It was longer than the few seconds of time I was attempting to fill allowed for, but I read it all anyway. I resonated with it, a lot. I decided to share it, and I was writing this very paragraph when I realized my birthday is this week. So, the older I get, the more I allow myself to go where life leads instead of only going where I planned.
“A few thoughts that come to me, the older I get.
The older I get, the more that people in my life gain value.
The older I get, my feelings become more important than my thoughts.
The older I get, the more I realize that being happy is more important than being right.
The older I get, the more I understand that the art of wisdom is knowing what to overlook.
The older I get, the more I realize the importance of living in this moment, now.
The older I get, the higher the value I see in our elders and our children.
The older I get, the more I get the wisdom of balance. It’s the key.
The older I get, the more I realize that when I judge, I deny myself and others.
The older I get, the more I know that love is the most powerful emotion.
The older I get, the more I believe that being a part of a community is important.
The older I get, the more apparent is the value of alone time.
The older I get, the more I get it that the world does not belong to humans.
The older I get, the more obvious it is to me that we should always consider the next seven generations when making decisions.
The older I get, the more I come to understand that if there is to be a future for all beings on this planet, we must begin to seek the avenues of change.
The older I get, the more important I realize that I must become the change I want to see.”

I hope that you find more wisdom and joy, the older you get.
