Former Governor of Illinois Blagojevich supposedly turned to his lawyer moments after being convicted of 17 felony counts including holding up a children’s hospital for campaign contributions and auctioning off President Obama’s vacant Senate seat and asked, “Who can we get to do the show on the inside?”
Just kidding, apparently what he asked was, “What happens now?” Like he didn’t understand that he is headed to the slammer. For a long time.
For the first time the former Governor didn’t have anything much to say on the courthouse steps. Thank god.
Which brings us back to why and how we all know this guy’s name anyhow. He became a celebrity for being a scumbag a-hole of the first order appearing on virtually every talk show from Ellen to The Daily Show and famously competing as a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice.
At this point it’s fair to ask why? Why did all these media producers think having the now convicted felon on national television again and again was a worthwhile endeavor? And why did we all continue to watch him, creating the virtuous circle of bad man telling lies, promoted by the media, and consumed by the American public.
I personally always found him painful to even look at so never watched any of his interviews or shows. But I would be interested in a reality show from the inside. Just for kicks.
