In the world of video games, a player can envision themselves as just about anything. Whether it be a gangster, a sword wielding amazon, an angry Spartan determined to take down the gods themselves, or a street baller, anyone around the world can walk many miles in other shoes.
That is, as along as those shoes belong to essentially white feet.
Sure, there are games where the protagonist on the TV screen is an alien or some other creature out of myth and imagination. But the number of games where players can see a black hero on the screen are few and far between.
Tomorrow, the ranks of black video game heroes and heroines grows by one more.
ActiVision releases the anticipated sequel to Prototype, the widely popular action game.
Prototype 2 follows James Heller (voiced by Cornell Womack) as he hunts down the truth from the man whose infection gave him his powers and killed his family: Alex Mercer, the hero from the first game.
