There are many things that could be said about Robert Nesta Marley, who would have celebrated his 67th birthday today. From becoming the poster child for generations of cannibis-clouded college students to almost literally spawning a generation of musicians (there are a lot of Marleys), his name has become synonymous with reggae music and Jamaica. His messages of freedom and African consciousness may have become diluted by the angle of his entry into popular consciousness, but they remain, unchanged and unbowed.
Of all the things that can be said, only one really should …
In the words of our ancestors, anedge hirak Bob Marley, and thank you.
