In recent years Bugatti has extended its brand into other product categories, including Champagne, Art, traditional watches with Jacob&Co, Eyewear, Lego, Real Estate, and recently smartwatches.
The Bugatti Carbone Limited Edition smartwatch is a luxurious and technologically advanced timepiece that boasts a number of impressive features. From its dual-processor setup to its extended battery life, it’s clear that this watch was designed with performance and style in mind. We took a close look at its features to determine whether it lives up to the hype.
Software
The software on the Bugatti Carbone is functional and robust. In our tests, the smartwatch operated without any glitches or bugs. However, if you’re a fan of flashy animations, you may be disappointed. The software favors functionality over aesthetics, which may not appeal to everyone.
Battery Time
One of the standout features of the Bugatti Carbone is its impressive battery life. The watch is equipped with a 540mAh lithium-ion battery, one of the larger batteries available in smartwatches today. In always-on mode, the watch lasts about 2 days, while in “raise your hand” mode it can last between 7-10 days. In display-by-button-click mode, it extends to an impressive 12-14 days.
Materials
The Bugatti Carbone boasts premium materials, with its housing and bezel made entirely of carbon fiber, giving it a sleek and modern look while also being lightweight and strong. The back cover is constructed from Titanium grade 2, which, while not as durable as grade 5, is sufficient for this application. The carbon fiber and titanium combination creates a strong and lightweight smartwatch.
Processor
The smartwatch features a two-processor layout with a Cortex M4 core at 120MHz, Cortex M0+ core, 2MB Flash, 640kB SRAM, and a Cortex M4 at 64MHz, 1MB Flash, and 256kB SRAM. While it doesn’t produce the flashy animations of a Snapdragon Wear, it offers longer battery life.
App
The companion app is user-friendly and visually pleasing. During our testing, we experienced no issues, and it provided easy access to the watch’s features and data.
Connection
The Bugatti Carbone connects seamlessly with both Android and iOS devices. During our tests, we encountered no issues with data transfer, notifications, or updates.
Display
The smartwatch features a 390×390 pixel resolution display, which is fairly standard. The display is sharp and looks great indoors. In bright sunlight, it remains readable, though not as vibrant. The display is protected by scratch-resistant sapphire glass, a fitting choice for a luxury smartwatch.
Charger
The charger is shaped like the Bugatti EB logo but is made of plastic. A brushed aluminum or steel charger would have been a more fitting choice for a luxury watch.
GNSS
The smartwatch’s location services are adequate, supporting GPS, Galileo, and Glonass. In our tests, it took between 41 seconds to 1 minute and 14 seconds to receive a signal. While not exceptional, these times are acceptable.
Basic Features
Steps and calories tracking are accurate. The smartwatch also features a dehydration feature and sleep tracking. The sleep tracking could provide deeper data, but it accurately detects deep sleep, restless sleep, and awake phases. The heart rate monitoring is accurate during work and sleep, and consistent during biking. However, during running, it can be less accurate.
Advanced Features
Unique features include Acceleration, GPS Lap Timing, and BioAge. We did not test Acceleration, which times acceleration from 0 to various speeds. BioAge can be sensitive, showing fluctuations after a few bad nights of sleep.
Scope of Delivery
The unboxing experience is exceptional. The smartwatch comes in a wooden and leather box with a miniature Bugatti radiator grille. The package includes the smartwatch with a nylon strap, an additional silicone strap, a warranty card, charger, user manual, and a microfiber cloth.
Verdict
The Bugatti Carbone Limited Edition smartwatch is a luxurious and well-built timepiece. It excels in battery life, materials, and connection capabilities. The lack of flashy animations may disappoint some, but for those looking for a high-performance smartwatch with a sleek design, the Bugatti Carbone is a solid choice. The unique features and unboxing experience add to the allure of this luxury smartwatch.
