The funny comedy ‘Uncle Drew’ is coming to Blu-Ray
I enjoy a good comedy now and then. Sadly, most comedies I see lately are pretty bad. They try too hard to get laughs, and prefer to be gross rather than clever or original. I heard some good things about Uncle Drew, but had a few doubts about it. Yet I decided to give it a chance. I was able to get a review copy and this is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Uncle Drew here:
After Dax loses his street ball team to his archrival, he’s desperate for a way to enter the upcoming tournament and win the cash prize. Dax stumbles upon the man, the myth, the legend Uncle Drew, and draws up a crazy game plan: convince Drew and his old squad to hit the court one more time and prove that septuagenarians can still win the big one!
Uncle Drew was an alright film, but I didn’t love it. It starts off rather slow, and takes a good while to get any good. The search for the teammates was a bit silly at first, but did get better towards the end. For me, this movie didn’t really get good until they got to the B-Ball tournament. It was great to see this team of underdogs come together and try to do something great. The film was a bit predictable, but a few unexpected things happened too. Even though it was pretty obvious how the story was going to end, it was still a satisfying finale. This film won’t be for everyone, but I can see basketball fans really enjoying it.
