You Are Aging. How is it Going?
Whether you’re 17, 45, or 89 your time clock is moving forward. Since my days of reckless abandon ended in my twenties, I decided to enjoy what ever time I had left. I’ve been working at that for over 20 years now and it’s going pretty well. I asked myself, how can I live the greatest version of my life? It’s pretty simple. I do the things I love, spend time with people I love, and share that love with as many people as possible.

3 Simple Meditations to Combat Stress
We’ve all had the experience when we plan something nice for ourselves and life throws us the unexpected. It’s never fun, but we have to learn how to deal with these moments. If you have kids, this happens on a regular basis. Instead of being frustrated that I was interuppted, I have to change my mindset, change my attitude and be okay with the circumstance. Our friend has no idea that she interrupted me. She’s so happy to arrive early and spend more time with my wife and I definitely didn’t want to spoil her excitement.
RE-commit: 3 easy steps to keep up your health & wellness resolutions!
We’re approaching the middle of January and I know many of you have already given up on your New Year’s resolutions. I’ve done it in the past and I’ve been tempted to do it now, but this year I have a new plan. I’m making small goals, creating an accountability group for support and encouragement, I’m being honest with myself and my group, and I’m not getting down on myself if I don’t reach every goal, every moment of every day.
New Year’s Resolutions!
Every year we get to this time and start setting goals because we want to change our lives for the better. It makes sense. We want to stop drinking, stop eating crappy, or lose weight, blah blah blah! I’m all for it, but the truth is that all it takes is real commitment on your part. I’m leading a group through a 30 day challenge beginning on January 1. We’ll be setting goals, encouraging each other to stay on the wagon and ultimately making it easy to make these changes.
3 Breathing Techniques to Deal with Holidays Stress
It definitely takes a tough skin to trudge through the droves of people fighting for position at the sale rack. How do you deal with it?
Deep breaths you say? Well, you’d be right. It’s a great start anyway. One easy, stress reducing way to deal with the anxiety produced by overwhelming crowds is simply deep breaths. Pull off to the side of the crowd, stand tall and take in a nice deep breath.
Do You Use Your Mind or Does It Use You?
Every morning, the first thing that happens to most of us is we become aware. Our consciousness wakes up, sometimes even before your eyes open. We become aware, feel our body in bed, the sheets, maybe we take a big stretch or yawn, and then begins the onslaught of thinking. We think about our to do lists, what happened yesterday, how we’re feeling, what’s supposed to happen today, etc. This super train of thoughts begins and sometimes doesn’t end until we crash at night. Research shows that we think 50-70,000 thoughts each day. Imagine for a moment if someone tapped on your neck with a needle 50-70,000 times each day. How might that feel? We think about a variety of subjects, so maybe you get tapped on your head, then your knee, then your back and so on. After thousands and thousands of times, eventually you’d probably react unfavorably, perhaps even violently, unless of course, it felt good.
Creating Positive Habits
The holiday season is upon us and most of us will be making excuses about why we can cheat on our diet, or why it’s okay to skip our exercise routine, or our meditation practice. “Well, it’s the holidays,” we tell ourselves. Everything goes to ‘hell in a hand basket,’ as they say. We allow ourselves to binge at the holiday party, have that holiday smoke, or hurt ourselves in some other way. Of course, New Year’s Eve is the ultimate excuse to become a mess. Then we try to reset on January 1. It might work for a few days or a couple of weeks, but never seems to last.
The C’s of Success
So many of us have a gap from where we are to where we want to be. I’ve found that to bridge that gap and be successful isn’t very complicated, but it does take action.
