Caught with his pants down,
so that more men found out
what women have always known;
Harvey and his ilk
have been getting away
with giving in to their inner chimp
for a very long time.
But beneath the bravado and bluster,
the power games and protection,
a sad bastard who had it all,
but had it all wrong.
Maybe mocked as a fat kid
who never got the girl;
he got his own back instead,
but lost everything.
In a world where man-up meant one-up;
surrounded by women who existed in mirrors;
dedicated to being the objects of desire
they felt was their only option,
but feeling secretly demeaned,
his felt hid only power was in his wallet,
or his dick.
Will it ever any hit him
(like many would like to)
how much he lost
in order to win?
Meanwhile I wonder how much of the relish
with which Good Men watch Harvey fall
is a projection of the fear we feel
that we are not Good enough,
or Man enough.
