I was blessed to have had parents who also didn’t have any problems talking to each other about money. As a child, I would see them sit down at the table and pay their bills together (both of them had full-time careers). They are gone now, but their example of how to be responsible and – as you mention in this article – flexible, taught me that a couple is a team and should work together to provide for their family.
My father was generous with my mother and vice-versa. Prudence is the key that allows for peace of mind, and for the possibility to indulge occasionally. Thank you for bringing up this important topic in such an eloquent manner.
