Cory Booker announced that he’s throwing his hat into the 2020 presidential election. My news feed has been ablaze with folks on the left complaining about too many candidates…
I truly don’t understand why Dems are up in arms about the amount of [qualified] candidates we will have as options in the presidential primary, especially considering what is at stake. This is what primaries are for…let them debate, some will float to the top (and some already have), select the best, galvanize behind the nominee. That is where we on the left of center fail…the galvanizing part. Our binary political system does not support the independent thinking that happens on the left, and until that changes, we need to take a note from the right and learn how to unify once someone is selected.
I don’t remember any Republicans lamenting about an over-saturation of great candidates…at least our board is looking pretty stacked right now. Booker, Harris, Gillibrand, Warren…potentially Beto, Sanders, Patrick, Biden! I, for one, am NOT MAD. I will take ANY of these folks over what we have now…and not just as an alternative, but as pretty darn great alternatives.
Have we forgotten what the republican primaries looked like last presidential election cycle? SEVENTEEN major candidates and their best choice was a reality TV star who hasn’t managed his wealth well, and holds hatred toward every group of people but ultra rich white men. Our lineup is lookin like the Lakers having acquired AD, c’mon now. Don’t let the bots online propagate unnecessary strife and uneasiness amongst us already.
But really, y’all don’t remember this? 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

If Dems can commit to clean campaigning, reign in PACs that don’t hold that line, we will win this election handily. We have too many great candidates not to. Keep the party morale up, no so-n-so-or-bust mentality allowed. We will win.
