If the eyes truly are the windows to the soul, perhaps we should spend more time looking in the mirror.
It’s difficult examining yourself. It seems when I look in the mirror, all I see are my flaws.
And it’s just so easy to look out the window, to judge someone else, sometimes for the same things we are guilty of. To absolve someone of guilt, sometimes for the same things we feel badly about.
Why is it so hard to look in the mirror? What is it you don’t want to see? If you could see one thing that you don’t, what would it be?
Why is it so easy to look out the window? How come we give other people passes for things we excoriate ourselves for? Why can’t we be as nice to ourselves as we can be to other people?
And why is it so easy to judge? Do we make ourselves feel better when we find someone else to be lacking? Is there some inherent human need to rate people on a scale of relative goodness?
As a man, how do you feel about examining your life? When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Who is the man in the mirror?
