We live in a fast-paced world.
Everything evolves so rapidly.
Remember.
10 years ago, it was cool to be an alpha guy, an impassible James Bond, skilled and very masculine.
Now, there is room for other male representations, such as Lil Nas X and Harry Styles.
If the new diversity of male avatars is definitely a progress allowing every individual to embrace oneself; it’s pretty challenging.
Why?
Because it redefines standards that have been cemented through years and millennials.
This is a Revolution.
And it’s hard to position yourself as an heterosexual man now.
Too Alpha? You’re a has-been misogynist.
Too Weak? You’re the reason some women miss the “REAL MEN”.
That being said, we are not here to complain, but rather to acknowledge the modern challenges of a man’s life.
Being strong.
Accepting our vulnerabilities without being weak.
And this is new for us.
Well… Not really.
We men are human beings.
We always have had emotions.
The only change is that now it’s ok to express them.
But the ancient software is still in our heads.
So, let me tell you a secret.
Here is the main thing we crave from our partner, but we sometimes don’t know how to ask for:
SUPPORT.
What does it mean to us, men?
The hard part of being a man is to fit in the Boys Club.
And it’s SO HARD because it’s a very competitive world. Earning the respect of our peers is a central pillar in our lives.
And we get it by demonstrating strength, character, and skills.
And in this difficult pursuit, even the most driven and optimistic of us sometimes feel like we fall short.
We sometimes succeed, but we also fail.
And when the dark periods are coming, we count on you. We crave your support and your esteem.
You really underestimate how much your contribution counts.
You can literally change a man’s destiny through the following words :
“I love you, and I’ll support you, no matter what.”
Those words can transform a man because he’ll feel more useful and understood than ever.
That can be the deep fuel for a new chapter of your lives.
This need to bring a contribution and participate in a project is deeply ingrained in us.
And if you can wake that up: JACKPOT.
Last words
This article focuses on men’s needs, but that doesn’t mean women should be secondary characters.
I think nowadays, the modern couple is one where each party can strive, achieve its dream, and fulfill its desires.
While being there for the partner.
