This Call for Submissions was inspired by a Facebook post by Dayna Steele following the news of Chris Cornell’s death.
.
.
Not only a great musician and performer, but Chris was working every day to make a difference in this world. He started the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation (which is sadly just a black page today) to support children facing challenges, including homelessness, poverty, abuse and neglect. Cheap Trick’s Tom Petersson writes music to help autistic children learn to speak. We give laptops to high school students trapped in poverty. It is all just a drop in the bucket but imagine how fast we could fill that bucket if we all did just one thing each day.

We are looking for NON-FICTION, biographical stories of men who have made a positive impact on the lives of others. Please share with us only public information; do not out a person or reveal any private information about any person (except yourself). We will prefer stories of men who are not yet in the spotlight. This is not to be a public relations piece! Please do write about your mentor, teacher or student, work colleague/supervisor/subordinate, someone in public service — any man who goes over and above to help others.
How do you know this man? How have you two impacted one another? Tell us, what has this man has done and for whom? How has his generous spirit (or other heroic qualities) made a difference in the lives of others? How has his life-changing work also changed his own life?

The Good Men Project is different from most media companies. We are a “participatory media company”—which means we don’t just have content you read and share and comment on but it means we have multiple ways you can actively be a part of the conversation. As you become a deeper part of the conversation (Which really is “The Conversation No One Else is Having), you will learn all of the ways we support our Writer’s Community—community FB groups, weekly conference calls, classes in writing, editing platform building and How to Create Social Change.
