100 Words on Love, by Lady Chatterly
–
I’ve always loved sleeping with you, the various positions we’ve perfected over the years.
On the nights we’re not speaking we lie, faces to opposite walls on the edges of the bed, each determined not to crumble first. And inevitably, through the cloud of dreams, one of us forgets the disagreement. A foot seeks out another and we’re joined again.
There’s the post-sex collapse, head on thrumming heart and legs in a plaited tangle.
And there’s sleep soaked in love. My head tucked under your chin. The familiarity of the perfect fit.
You could read our sleep, like tea leaves.
