I am often asked, if you could have everyone in the world listen to one of your songs, which one would it be? It would be the song “To Give” featuring Matisyahu because of the message that is shared in this song. The song is about giving back to the world at large and not just taking from it. I think the world would be a much better place if we could all love our neighbor just a little bit more.

In this season of giving and as we prepare to enter 2018, I’ve been reflecting on what an energy shift we would feel if every day we made a conscious decision to give. Even one act of giving daily can create a paradigm shift.
We have a brand-new opportunity to give in 2018. For the men out there, how will you give to the women in your life? For the women who may be reading this, how will you allow the men in your life to give to you? How will you give to strangers you meet and to those in need? What can you give to make our world and the lives of others brighter?
And, what gift would you like to give yourself in the final days of 2017 and as we enter the untouched, pristine new year of 2018?
If you are one of those who may have over-given in relationships, in the workplace, or in family dynamics, and feel depleted by not receiving in return; this is an opportunity to bring balance back by giving to yourself and creating a new dynamic to have others give to you.
For me, it was a pivotal life decision to give back through my music. Music is a medium that gives me the opportunity to inspire, help, and motivate others to overcome their challenges. Everyone loves music. Bob Marley was a role model for me in that he was also bringing a spiritual, philosophical message to the world through his music.
I am so passionate about Giving in 2018 that I am urging you to join me in the #ToGiveChallenge. Share how you are giving to those you love, to those you don’t know but have a longing to serve with your kindness, to charities that have touched your heart, and share how you are respecting and giving to yourself. Just tag your shares with @mysilentbravery on all social media posts and be sure to share in this post! I am creating a GIVING WALL on my website and will be featuring your posts there! It’s going to be awesome, and I can’t wait to be inspired by your giving hearts!
“I think the message in Matt’s music and especially the song “To Give”
is a very positive one that I am happy to support. I’ve always been about
crossing musical boundaries, so collaborating on this song was a natural fit.”
~Matisyahu
“To Give” Lyrics
From the moment we’re born
First thought is to take
We feed our face
We eat, we breathe,
We sleep, we dream
And when we don’t get we need
Well then, we cry, we kick, we scream
We’ll try every and anything
To bring the attention where it belongs back to me
What’s mine is yours and what’s yours is yours
Open the door let love come through
Each day you know that it’s true
Got to give to the Lord you know that’s all you can do
From the moment we wake each day
We crave the easy way
We booze, caffeine or nicotine
Anything to fill the need
Like money does, bright lights, big bling
We’ll try everything and anything
If something is in it for me
What if we flipped a switch?
And be unselfish
What if you called a friend just to see how he is?
We all could use a lift
Without pretenses
What if your first thought was not to take but just to give … to give
Until the moment we’re gone
We’re stuck in between what we need and want
We eat, we pray, we love, we speak
Sometimes we don’t feel a thing
Then other times, we hurt, we bleed
Anything and everything
It’s all about me
And how the simplest of thoughts
Could be so hard
This isn’t who we really are
What’s mine is yours and what’s yours is yours
Open the door let love come through
Each day you know that it’s true
Got to give to the lord you know that’s all you can do
There’s no time for envy, jealousy, or greed
Love blindly that’s all that we need
Send out your hand to help a fellow man
Stand up if you want and give to the land
What if we flipped a switch?
And be unselfish
What if you called a friend just to see how he is?
We all could use a lift
Without pretenses
What if your first thought was not to take but just to give … to give.
