Jules, you ask an interesting question.
“Why is the level of sexual satisfaction in these countries so high for BOTH men and women”.
I have no idea and suggest you try to find out for us. It is important. It must be a cultural thing and probably not caused by the Mediterranean diet. But who knows, maybe women have higher libido there because of a more healthy lifestyle ?
The only report I read about this issue tells that men and women in Spain value romantic relationships and committed relationship over casual sex and hookups.
It also said that the persons most happy with their life are also the persons that report [having] the most pleasant and fulfilling sex life.
But look at how parents their raise their children in places like Italy. They are said to love their child for “being” not for “doing ” as we do in Northern Europe.
And what about values and attitudes about sexuality? Are men in Spain,Italy,Brazil,Greece…the Mediterranean culture ,ashamed of their sexuality? That is not my impression.
Here on GMP, I have read some American men tell that they were told as children , by their parents ( mother?) that their genitals were ugly, gross. Somehow I just can not Imagine an Italian mother will see her little son and any part of his body as ugly .
And parents in Spain, Italy, Greece, Brazil do not cut their children’s genitals to make them look better or “to be more clean.”
To be comfortable in your own body, and with your own sexuality unashamedly is a good start for a healthy sex life.
The countries you mention are Catholic countries. In fact, I expect them to have more strict rules and regulations about sex, compared for example to Scandinavian countries that are mainly secular and Protestant .
Another thing is that countries that are ranked as countries with the most equality between the men and women are NOT among the top for best sexual pleasure. Except maybe in Switzerland. That is a country that ranks high on having the best cities to live in, and also a high quality of life, including good sex.
