In life, you’ll meet a lot of people with different agendas. They may take you for granted, make use of you for their gains, etc. There are also people who genuinely need your help and such.
Personally, I’m someone who doesn’t mind lending a hand to people in need. In school, people would say that I’m “too nice”. As I grow older, I’m getting busier with life, work and business. Let’s not forget the loved ones.
So I want to tell you that it’s really okay to reject clients that waste your time.
It’s okay to build a business that your friend needs help with.
It’s okay to move forward and work on your growth.
Started A Partnership When I Shouldn’t
Someone came up to me and wanted to start a partnership. Me, being 21-year-old and wanting everything, said yes. At first, it was rosy and good.
Before the partnership was finalized, I started to feel uneasy. There were signs that I could move forward faster and better. People were telling me that I was being dragged down by the so-called partner.
Now, I’m not trying to say that I’m better than her. We all have different skill sets.
The main reason why I was in conflict is that I didn’t vet through the partnership. A partnership is highly dangerous to start. It’s pretty much a marriage. Nobody goes into marriage without fully knowing their partner.
Well, I did.
Cut Ties
So being in that partnership was toxic to me. It’s like being in a bad relationship where your friends are advising you to break up but you constantly find excuses to defend your partner.
I was afraid. I was confused. But I knew I wanted out.
I just couldn’t say “no, I want this to end”.
It had to be done because by constantly saying yes, I was affecting my mental health. More importantly, it hindered me from being productive in life. That partnership was not in alignment with my why and vision.
So I did. And I felt relieved. Going full on with what I believe in.
Please Say No
Say NO to half decisions.
Say NO to peer pressure.
Say NO to saying yes.
If you’re conflicted in choosing one over another, follow your instincts. When your guts says no, go with that. There might be a slight “what if I regret” moments but believe in yourself. Self evaluate.
If you don’t find any value from this article, at least take this with you:
Remember your why. Align your vision.
Aspire to inspire. I want the best for all of you. Keep living, keep hustling.
