I am not the greatest at being on time.
I have many, many excuses, but the fact remains, I’m often late.
Andrew? Hell, no, late isn’t happening. It’s probably one of the most stressful situations I’ve ever experienced when it gets close to his planned time for departure. It’s like being in the damned airport.
I really couldn’t give two hot damns about being 3 minutes early, 30 seconds early, or even 5 minutes within the projected ETA. That shit is neither here nor there to me, because I absolutely refuse to cause myself that much of a headache over a couple of measly minutes.
There really isn’t much in life that is worth causing myself a stress headache. I’m not that serious about too much unless it involves some sort of emergency dog scenario. Otherwise, I pretty much stick to my “whenever the fuck I show up” mentality.
Here is what I have learned:
I need a two-hour head start on everything. I don’t rush, I don’t get uptight over an arbitrary timeline, and I don’t really give a hot damn if anyone else does. It’s better if I am given the time to mosey along doing as I do.
Otherwise, I’m probably not fucking going.
I quit punching a clock a few years back, and that was the last time I was a slave to a specific set of times. I now just do as I do, zero stress.
This kid though.
Two hour head start. That’s what works best in our house.
Unless he’s going by his damned self.
