What are dogs?
I mean, really?
What are these beings that bring us such joy and entertainment?
And why do we love dogs so freakin’ much?
I think it’s because dogs see the best in us. For better or worse, even if you’re a d*ckhead, and no people like you, your dog is probably still excited to see you when you come home from work.
And dogs find joy in the most trivial of things.
EVERYTHING is a “Hell, Yes” to a dog.
A ride? Sure, he’s sticking his head out the window. And he looks back at me once and a while like, “Dude! I’m flying!”
A walk? Yes! He doesn’t even care where we go, or if it’s raining, or even snowing. There’s plenty of weird stuff to sniff along the way.
Jumping on the bed is fun. Stealing pillows and running around the house like a maniac is fun.
Chasing rabbits.
Chasing squirrels.
Digging holes.
Peeing on Corvettes!
They love everything.
Well, maybe not an ear cleaning. Or a trip to the vet. But, you know, most things.
I feel like dogs are present to this moment in a way that most humans can only aspire to be. And everything feels new if you can allow yourself to experience them as if for the first time.
What are dogs?
They are the best.
